2008 | Mixed-Use Retail & Entertainment District
A retail and entertainment district and a new headquarters and home for the Calgary Stampede. Yearly, the Stampede rodeo and western lifestyle event takes place here and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors and revelers over ten days. Featuring retailers, restaurants, nightclubs and theaters as well as office space, the district is directly adjacent to downtown Calgary and the Saddledome. An urban infill and mixed-use project with a mix of classic western and clean modern architectural sensibilities. Carefully considered proportions and fenestrations render the scale of the project more pedestrian - more human. Streetscapes and parking structure treatments were also studied in an effort to wholly define the project. Completed while at Communication Arts.
